My journey to becoming a nutritionist involved overcoming personal health challenges. It began with poor gut health and digestion issues, likely worsened by antibiotics and unhealthy dietary and lifestyle choices.
With a diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), this initial battle introduced me to the intricate world of nutrition, setting the stage for deeper exploration into holistic health practices.
Facing allergies and an introduction to the complex role of histamine, and skin flares presented new hurdles. Working in a high-stress environment, I hit a burnout point, compelling me to reassess my lifestyle, set healthy boundaries, and prioritise self care and stress management
This period of introspection and recovery illuminated the crucial role of nutrition not only in physical health but also in mental well-being
Through my own mental health struggles, I realised how dietary choices could serve as a form of therapy, aiding in emotional and psychological resilience.
Transforming these personal adversities into a professional mission, I became a nutritionist. This understanding forms the basis of your personalised nutritional plan, which includes foods to avoid and include, suitable physical activities that fit into your lifestyle, and beneficial supplements ti kickstart your health. Every aspect of the plan is agreed upon together to ensure it is specific and realistic for you.
If necessary, I may recommend functional testing, which provides a detailed health snapshot and helps refine our approach. This testing goes beyond standard GP assessments and aids in developing a targeted strategy to improve your well-being. Functional testing offers you a more personalised, comprehensive, and proactive approach that focuses on addressing the root cause of health issues. This information allows for a tailored nutrition and supplementation plan supporting you with long term empowerment, wellness and vitality. These test don’t diagnose, but provide an insight into where you most need the support. I use professional accredited laboratories within the UK and samples are collected in a variety of methods such as urine, blood, stool and saliva.

Toxicity PanelA comprehensive toxicity panel test designed to identify beneficial and harmful bacteria, fungi, and mould can be particularly beneficial for individuals working in high risk occupational environments such as construction, airlines, renovation, or those exposed to mould in their living spaces. This test can help pinpoint specific microbial imbalances that may be contributing to symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, nausea, skin issues and depression.
Many people become unwell before traditional GP testing becomes abnormal, and functional medicine uses ‘optimal’ levels as a point of reference. These are tighter ranges that maintain good physiological health rather than the standard broad ranges, which are often not useful in identifying dysfunction. In addition to this many of the tests I use in my clinical practice are simply not available via the NHS.
